READING, Mass. – Protecting a one-run lead in the bottom of the sixth, Reading turned to small ball.
After Kam Greatorex got things started with a single to right, Jack Connolly got the chaos started with a bunt, reaching on a throwing error that sent Greatorex to third. Liam Hansen finished it off with a soft bunt, driving in Greatorex for a 2-0 lead.
The Rockets never looked back as Grady Ventura finished off a complete-game, one-hitter with a 1-2-3 top of the seventh for the 2-0 final, sending Reading to the MIAA Division 2 Round of 8.
Ventura struck out seven and walked one in the shutout. Hansen and Greatorex each had two hits for the Rockets. Below, we highlight five standouts from the game.
