With the playoffs upon us, it’s a perfect time to look at who could take home our end-of-season hardware as MIAA Player of the Year.
The winner will be announced following the championship games of the state tournaments, which will be held Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14, at Polar Park in Worcester. Below is a list of 14 players, ranging from two-way stars to offensive forces and pitching dynamos, from 14 different schools, all under consideration. Whether they competed in Division 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 does not matter, either.
Of course, there are many other players outside of those listed who are deserving in their own right. Honorable mentions or others not listed are still eligible. If you have a nominee not listed or stat updates, please email them to patrick.donnelly@baseballjournal.com. Any help with season-long statistics is greatly appreciated. This is, after all, the perfect time of year for players to set themselves apart.
Last season, Plymouth North's D.C. Brown did just that. After he was an honorable mention among our initial candidates, Brown dominated in the Division 2 tournament, leading the Blue Eagles to a state title and earning Player of the Year.
