Team Massachusetts' run for a national championship came to an end on July 4, with a 6-3 loss to Louisiana in the quarterfinal round of the High School Baseball National Championship Series in Omaha, Neb.
Massachusetts finished the tournament 2-2 after advancing from group play for the first time in the three-year history of the event. The Bay State All-Star squad proved every bit the equal to All-Star teams from some of the top baseball states in the nation. Massachusetts led 3-0 in the top of the sixth inning against Louisiana before allowing three runs in each of the final two innings.
Team Massachusetts is comprised of 17 of the state’s top high school prospects. Sixteen of the players are Class of 2027 graduates, and one is in the Class of 2028.
