The NEPSAC league tournaments are fast approaching, with the ISL and CNEPSBL tourneys slated to begin May 13, while the Founders League and WNEPBL tourneys will start on May 16.
The No. 1 team in New England has come from the CNEPSBL in seven of the last eight seasons. Phillips Andover ran off a stretch of five consecutive seasons from 2018 to 2022, Worcester Academy earned the top spot in 2023, and Dexter Southfield wore the crown last spring. Only Founders League representative Avon Old Farms broke up the CNEPSBL streak with a No. 1 ranking in 2024.
At the moment, it seems unlikely that this year's No. 1 team will come from the CNEPSBL, as no Central New England representative is ranked in the top five of our most recent power rankings. Founders League, ISL, and WNEPBL teams occupy the top five spots, and league tournaments will largely determine New England's hierarchy for the 2026 season.
