Ben Reinisch was just as surprised as anybody when he learned in January that his former Phillips Andover coach, Kevin Graber, was taking a personal leave from the school.
Reinisch spent a postgraduate year at Andover in 2015 and returned to campus as an assistant in 2025. Following Graber's sudden departure, Reinisch was inserted as interim head coach in February.
Graber accepted a coaching position at Masters Academy this spring, and Reinisch's interim tag was removed in May.
"My initial reaction after KG went on leave was shock,'' said Reinisch. "KG wasn't only the head coach I played and worked for. He was also a mentor and a close family friend. I knew that for this to have happened, something was likely wrong. My immediate thoughts were with him and his family.
