Never did Mike Perry anticipate becoming the next Hamden Hall head coach after Chernovetz stepped away this past spring. Perry was hired to take the top job last month after serving under Chernovetz since 2021.
“Brad and I would often talk about the future of the program and what it would look like,’’ said Perry. “Brad’s mentorship and dedication to the program contributed to its overall success. This job is a great opportunity. I am committed to continuing and evaluating the trajectory we are on as a program.’’
Chernovetz was Perry's former travel ball coach and longtime mentor.
“That has molded me into a baseball person,’’ Perry said. “Brad is an enormous reason why the program here has had its success, and I plan to push this program to that same success and more. I cannot thank him enough for the work we did together. I would not be in this position without him.’’
