Class of 2028 prospects have likely heard the importance of the Aug. 1 date on the recruiting calendar. Starting tomorrow, the NCAA allows college coaches to extend offers to incoming juniors.
While much attention is paid to this date on social media, it may not be as significant as one would think -- particularly for New England prospects. Last year, only three New England incoming juniors -- Loomis Chaffee '27 Jacob Budarz (Rutgers), New Canaan High '27 Maddox Hoffman (Northwestern), and St. Mark's School '27 Lucas Hodne (UConn) -- committed to college programs in August.
The Aug. 1 date may be more significant for incoming seniors in New England, as college coaches seem to shift their focus to the next class of recruits. For example, a total of 30 Class of 2027 prospects committed to college programs in the last two weeks. We'll share those commitments later today.
For now, here's a look at 15 New England prospects in the Class of '28 who can be expected to initiate contact with college coaches on Aug. 1.
