Team Massachusetts kept its hopes for a national championship alive yesterday, posting a 6-0 victory over Maryland at the High School Baseball National Championship Series in Omaha, Neb.
The victory pushed Team Massachusetts' record to 1-1, setting up a high-stakes game against Utah on Thursday, July 2 (11 a.m. EST). Massachusetts lost its first game of the tournament against Arizona, 5-0, on Tuesday.
Team Massachusetts is comprised of 17 of the state's top high school prospects. Sixteen of the players are Class of 2027 graduates, and one is in the Class of 2028. Massachusetts must beat Utah to remain eligible for the quarterfinals.
