The Monmouth Academy baseball team found itself cornered in an unfamiliar situation.
Facing a four-run deficit after the first inning of Saturday’s Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) Class C state final against Washington Academy, it wasn’t exactly a spot the Mustangs were accustomed to playing from.
After all, Monmouth Academy outscored its opponents by an eye-popping 164-24 margin en route to a 15-1 record in the regular season. Blowout wins were commonplace for the perennial power.
The moment was not too big for Monmouth Academy players who are riddled with championship mettle.
