As a first-year freshman, Owen Asadoorian (Westminster, Mass.) started at Oakmont Regional. However, he always had an urge to attend nearby Cushing Academy. He satisfied that urge by transferring at the end of that school year, opting to reclassify as a freshman.
"I've always lived close to Cushing, so I was familiar with the school growing up,'' said Asadoorian. "I went to a youth baseball camp there when I was 10 years old, and I really enjoyed my experience. I had an older sibling (Ayston) go to Cushing before me. He had a great experience there, so once I got to high school, it was a no-brainer.''
Set to enter his senior year, Asadoorian has excelled both in the classroom and on the baseball diamond. Standing 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, the utility player was named a CNEPSBL All-Star this past spring, as well as an All-NEBJ First Team selection.
Asadoorian batted .423, with a .508 OBP, a .970 OPS, 14 runs scored, and eight stolen bases. During the summer months, he is a member of the Nor'Easters Runbirds 17U National program. While with the Nor-Easters, Asadoorian has partaken in several highly-touted showcase events, including the WWBA National Championship, Amateur Baseball Championship Invitational, and Diamond Nation Super 17. He was recently recognized as the 17U Perfect Game New England World Series MVP and was named a Perfect Game Preseason Underclassmen All-American.
