Prep Power Rankings: Final top 10 before league tournaments

A week from today, the Prep Power Rankings will be topped by league tournament champions. There will likely be a massive shakeup among the top 10 programs.

For today, the top 10 looks strikingly similar to last week. While some of the top teams suffered losses, most had no bearing on tournament seedings or regular-season league championships. So, much of the top 10 held firm.

To track the results from all of the league tournaments, visit our homepage on Wednesday. We will have tournament pages for the ISL and CNEPSBL. The Founders League and WNEPBL tournaments will begin on Saturday.

Here’s a look at the final Prep Power Rankings of the regular season.

1. Belmont Hill

Record: 16-3 overall, 10-1 ISL
Last week: 1st

Belmont Hill suffered its first ISL loss in its final league matchup on Saturday, falling to St. Sebastian’s, 4-2. However, the Sextants had already clinched the No. 1 seed in this week’s ISL Championship Tournament. Belmont Hill also posted a 14-1 victory over St. George’s last week. Bowdoin commit Eric Willi ’26 was 3 for 5 with an RBI and a double between the two games. Lance Toland ’27 was 3 for 7 with four RBI. Rutgers commit Jack Frostholm ’27 was 2 for 6 with a home run and three RBI. Belmont Hill will host No. 8 Tabor Academy in the first round of the ISL Tournament on May 13.

2. Choate Rosemary Hall

Record: 15-2 overall, 13-2 Founders League
Last week: 2nd

Choate is still vying for the No. 1 seed in the Founders League Tournament, which will start on Saturday. The Wild Boars suffered their second league loss of the season on March 6 against Avon Old Farms, 9-4. However, they bounced back with a 9-3 win over Trinity-Pawling on May 9. Northeastern commit Gianni Vora ’26 was 3 for 3 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored against Trinity-Pawling. UConn commit Shaun Flannery ’26 was 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBI.

3. Cheshire Academy

Record: 11-1 overall, 10-0 WNEPBL
Last week: 4th

Cheshire picked up two more wins last week — a 9-3 victory over Pomfret on May 5, and a 14-5 defeat of Williston Northampton on May 8. In the victory over Pomfret, Jason Dewitt ’28 was 2 for 3 with a two-run home run and double. Chris Cascella ’27 was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Philip Soltes ’27 picked up the win, recording five strikeouts in 4 ⅔ innings. In the victory over Williston Northampton, Ryan Degumbia ’27 struck out eight in four innings. Arthur Smithwick ’27 was 2 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Dewitt was 1 for 3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Cascella went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base.

4. Loomis Chaffee

Record: 14-3 overall, 12-2 Founders League
Last week: 3rd

Loomis fell to Hotchkiss, 3-2, on May 11, snapping an eight-game winning streak. The Pelicans also posted three victories last week — a 14-6 win over Canterbury, a 7-5 defeat of Westminster, and an 8-2 victory over Kingswood Oxford. Bryant commit Declan Ellingwood ’27 was strong at the plate, going 6 for 10 with three doubles, five RBI, five runs scored, and two stolen bases. Matias Pelaez ’29 went 4 for 10 with four RBI and four runs scored. Cooper Lamb ’27 was 4 for 10 with two RBI and two runs scored.

5. Canterbury School

Record: 15-2 overall, 9-1 WNEPBL
Last week: 5th

Canterbury dropped a non-league game to Loomis Chaffee, 14-6, last week, before getting back on track against Berkshire School, 8-3. In the loss to Loomis, Stonehill commit Ryan Gabianelli ’26 hit a three-run home run, while Trinity commit JJ Schachinger ’26 had a hit and two RBI. In the victory over Berkshire, Schachinger, Rutgers commit Logan Martel ’26, Merrimack commit Carter Heagle ’26 and Parker Farnham ’26 had two hits each. Heagle picked up the win, with four shutout innings.

6. Worcester Academy

Record: 13-4 overall, 7-3 CNEPSBL
Last week: 6th

Worcester secured the No. 1 seed in the CNEPSBL Tournament with a 10-2 victory over Cushing Academy on May 9. Worcester also dropped a league matchup against Dexter, 6-5, on May 6. Kellan Kissane ’27 and Lucas Stockenberg ’27 each had five hits on the week, capping a regular season in which they finished as Worcester’s top two hitters.

7. Austin Prep

Record: 14-3 overall (Independent)
Last week: 8th

Austin Prep won the New England Diamond Duel Tournament championship after posting a 14-0 victory over Putnam Science and a 5-1 defeat of Mount St. Charles. Dylan Cunningham ’28 picked up two wins on the mound, improving to 4-1 with a 0.55 ERA and 43 strikeouts. UMass Lowell commit Ryan Moreschi ’27 finished as the team’s top hitter with a .447 batting average.

8. St. Mark’s School

Record: 12-4 overall, 9-2 ISL
Last week: 7th

St. Mark’s finished off its ISL regular season with a 1-1 record against two consolation tournament teams. The Lions fell to Governor’s Academy, 7-6, on May 5, before beating St. George’s, 9-4, on May 8. In the loss to the Govs, Evan Waden ’28 was 2 for 5 with a triple, RBI, and a run scored. Cam Aguilar ’27 collected two RBI. Connor Moore ’27 pitched 1 ⅓ scoreless innings. In the victory over St. George’s, Waden was 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBI. UConn commit Lucas Hodne ’27 collected two RBI, while Ryan Bowdridge ’28 was 2 for 2 with two runs scored. St. Mark’s will host Thayer Academy in the opening round of the ISL Tournament on May 13.

9. Winchendon School

Record: 15-6 overall (Independent)
Last week: 9th

Winchendon picked up two wins last week, beating Cushing, 18-5, and Marianapolis Prep, 18-4. Bucknell commit Ryan Ruggiero ’26 collected three hits, improving his average to .493 with 17 stolen bases, five doubles, five triples, and three home runs. Sladen Johnson ’27 has shined on the mound, posting a 6-0 record and 0.96 ERA with 38 strikeouts. Ryan Wirtz ’27 hit a home run against Marianapolis, and is now hitting .379 with three homers and seven doubles.

10. Salisbury School

Record: 12-3 overall, 9-3 WNEPBL
Last week: Unranked

Salisbury shutout Frederick Gunn on consecutive days last week, posting a 15-0 victory on May 7 before posting a 12-0 win on May 8. Francis Conner-Schmid ’28 was 4 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the second win. Maine commit Mark Chirumbolo ’26 recorded the five-inning shutout with 10 strikeouts. In the first victory, New Haven commit Mark Windle ’26 was 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI. Charlie Brady ’27 had nine strikeouts in a five-inning shutout. Salisbury will face off with Cheshire in a WNEPBL semifinal matchup on May 16.
