Two weeks into the NHIAA season, preseason expectations have held strong — to an extent.
The top three teams in our preseason rankings are all off to strong starts and remain in the same order. Hanover, who has been dominating in Division 2, moves to the fourth spot. The Bears were our top-ranked D2 team heading into the season.
Spots 5-10 are a bit of a jumbled mess, but head-to-head took a backseat as a cluster of D1 teams took turns taking games off of each other. There are valid arguments to order that group in a ton of different ways. The No. 9 and 10 teams in our preseason rankings have fallen out of the poll, which means we have two newcomers replacing them. With every team playing between five and eight games, there’s a decent sample size to go off of.
