Daniel Margolies was just one reason that Cheshire Academy enjoyed a special season. The Cats won the WNEPBL’s Cleary Division and finished fifth in our year-end poll.
The Clemson-bound left-hander was at the forefront of Cheshire’s success. He shared WNEPBL Player of the Year honors with Cats teammate Garrett Snyder (Notre Dame), pitching to a 1.32 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 262/3 innings.
While Margolies is committed to college, Cheshire coach Anthony Giano said pro interest in the southpaw has been strong dating to the team’s spring trip to Florida. (Margolies has participated in a pre-draft workout with the Mets.)
