SHREWSBURY, Mass. – All St. John's Shrewsbury needed was some two-out magic to take full control of a critical contest against Catholic Conference rival BC High on Wednesday.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, Owen Miller (Bellingham, Mass.) worked a walk to extend the lead to 3-1 before Aiden LeBel (Auburn, Mass.) roped a two-RBI single down the right field line to make it 5-1. It capped a five-run inning for the No. 1 Pioneers, who tacked on four more in the bottom of the fourth en route to an 11-1 run-rule win in six innings against the No. 5 Eagles.
Brady Chenevert (Shrewsbury, Mass.) earned the win, striking out three while scattering four hits and three walks across five innings with zero earned runs. LeBel's two RBI led the way, while five other Pioneers drove in runs. Gabe Terlato (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had two hits. SJS improved to 15-2.
Jack Darcy's (Milton, Mass.) two hits led BC High, while Brody Beale (Hingham, Mass.) and Wyatt Miller (Cohasset, Mass.) each had a hit and two walks. Hudson Verrill (Pembroke, Mass.) got the start on the mound, giving up four earned runs on four hits and two walks in 2 ⅓ innings. BC High dropped to 10-7. Let's dive into nine standouts from the game.
