Braden Place's emergence was one of the most instrumental factors in Roxbury Latin's rise to the top of the Independent School League (ISL) standings this season.
The right-handed pitcher/first baseman made strong headway in helping lead the Foxes to a 13-4 overall record and the ISL regular season championship.
The soon-to-be senior became one of the premier players in the highly combative ISL. On the mound, Place hurled 25 innings, going 4-0, fanning 36, and finishing with a 2.20 ERA and a .174 BAA. At the plate, he batted .372, with a 1.024 OPS and 15 RBI. For his efforts, Place was named First Team All-ISL, and an ISL Underclass All-Star.
A Needham, Mass., resident, Place has attended Roxbury Latin since the seventh grade, coming over from Dexter Southfield.
