After spending his freshman year attending Westfield High (N.J.), Logan Martel elected to reclassify and transfer to Canterbury School in 2022.
"At the time, I was not sure if I would be pursuing college hockey or baseball, so reclassifying just seemed like the best option for me,'' said Martel, now in his senior year at the New Milford, Conn., institution.
Throughout his time at Canterbury, Martel has shone as a hockey defenseman and baseball catcher. Ultimately, baseball became his chosen path.
"Logan is special because he can command a game behind the plate,'' said Canterbury 13-year head coach Todd Mathewson. "He is solid/above average in every area back there in terms of throwing, receiving, blocking, calling a game, and relationships built with his pitchers. Offensively, he is a true middle-of-the-order bat with the ability to change a game with his power. The ball just comes off his bat differently than most high school players. He has had many big swings during his time here.''
