There’s no shortage of championship-worthy programs in Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) baseball, but last year’s postseason was dominated by the top seeds.
All three 1-seeded teams ultimately won their respective state finals. Perennial powerhouse Bishop Hendricken earned its 24th championship, while North Providence finished on top for the first time in over 30 seasons. Woonsocket dominated Division III en route to a series sweep in the state final.
The Hawks, Cougars and Villa Novans will have targets on their backs throughout this season.
