Now it’s time for the “Best of New England” series to turn its attention to the underclassmen.
We’ve already ranked the top 50 prospects in both the Class of 2026 and the Class of 2027. And while we’re not ranking the players in sophomore and freshmen classes, we have developed watch lists of players we think will factor into those class rankings when they matriculate into upperclassmen.
Today, we’re looking at the Class of 2028.
As a reminder, tournament directors — and to a lesser degree, pro scouts — have helped set the market value for players by extending invitations to premier showcase events. The New England Baseball Journal staff is now attempting to sort through those offers and our own evaluations to provide this watch list of some of the best prospects in the Class of 2028.
Prospects in the Class of 2028 cannot make formal visits to college campuses or receive offers from recruiters until Aug. 1, by NCAA rule. This watch list includes prospects who will likely begin receiving recruiting interest in August.
