Kevin Graber has temporarily vacated his position as the Phillips Andover head baseball coach due to personal reasons, according to the school. Graber has not resigned from his post at Andover, nor has he been terminated.
Graber, who also serves as Senior Associate Director of Admissions and House Counselor, among other roles, moved out of his residence at Foxcroft Dormitory last week, leaving some baseball parents and players concerned about the abrupt departure and lack of explanation from the coach or school administration. Phillips Andover Athletic Director Lisa Joel did not respond to multiple requests for comment from New England Baseball Journal, instead forwarding a list of questions to Phillips Academy Chief Communications Officer Tracy Sweet.
"There has been no change made to the head coaching position," Sweet wrote. "Kevin has stepped away from campus for personal reasons."
When reached by New England Baseball Journal on Monday, Graber said he was in Arizona, dealing with a family health issue. He did not offer a timeline for his return.
