Former UConn All-American Carson Cross has accepted the head coaching position at The Governor's Academy, following the departure of one-year head coach James Baker.
Cross, a native of Exeter, N.H., spent the last four years as head coach at St. Thomas Aquinas in Dover, N.H. He is also the co-founder of 603 Evo, a data-driven player development facility.
"I'm passionate about developing young adults through baseball by emphasizing growth, accountability, and strong relationships," Cross said. "My goal is to create an environment that challenges student-athletes to reach their potential on the field while preparing them for success beyond the game."
Cross earned an opportunity to play at UConn after starring at Exeter High before his graduation in 2010. He was a two-year captain and one-time All-American selection at UConn. He was selected twice in the MLB Draft during his UConn career, first by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013. He did not sign and returned to UConn for two more seasons, eventually earning a selection by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2015.
