The senior duo of Harrison Engle and Boden Swanson has become one of this year's most successful battery combinations throughout the NEPSAC.
Engle is Kingwood Oxford's premier pitcher, and Swanson a highly productive all-around catcher. The pair of Fairfield University commits have formed a special bond that will continue beyond the West Hartford, Conn., campus.
Engle came to KO two years ago, after starting his high school career at Avon (Conn.) High. Swanson has been at KO for seven years and a varsity member since he was a freshman.
"The move (to KO) was like night and day for me, whether it was school work or practices,'' said Engel. "Everything was faster moving and, overall, a better environment for me. I chose KO because it is close to home. My first year was a big change for me. Academically, it was far from a public school in terms of load management. You learn how to manage time and your classes, and still be able to perform your best when the time comes. The Founders League is the best, in my opinion, because it shows you where you need to be in terms of your skill level and the preparation it takes all year to compete and succeed.''
