The best year in Northeastern program history continued through the 2025 MLB Draft, as five Huskies were selected among 24 New England prospects. The five Northeastern draft picks bested the previous program record of four, set in 2006. This spring, Northeastern set program and conference records with 49 victories, 17 by shutout. The Huskies were the only New England program to win a game in an NCAA Regional.
Some other stats from the draft: No other New England program had more than two players selected. UConn and Harvard each had a pair. Maine, Rhode Island, Yale, Boston College, MIT, Holy Cross, and the University of New Haven each had one player. Two New England high school prospects were selected -- both from Connecticut.
Of the 24 players selected from New England, 20 played for D1 programs in 2025. Sixteen are pitchers. Four of the top five New England prospects selected are left-handed pitchers, and the other is a right-handed pitcher.
